You know, people often ask me what the ferry trip from the island to the mainland is like, they say "Hey pdlas21, what's the ferry trip from the island to the mainland like?" They want me to tell them. So I tell them. You know what I tell them? This is what I tell them. I tell them that it's kind of long, kind of slow and kind of blue. That's what I tell them.

I think there is room for wind power on Serifos and on many other islands, large and small. Turbines may or may not look good, it's in the sensitivity of the placing and the eye of the beholder, but if you want electricity, wind power along with other renewables is preferable to the unsustainable, polluting and killing legacy we are leaving for our children now.

I had forgotten how barren the Cyclades look, it's astonishing. Great pieces of rock in the middle of the sea. What's more astonishing is that a couple of days on the island and you love the place. There was talk of building a wind power grid a few years ago. I wonder how it would look with the huge turbines towering above the Hora. Probably not a good sight but if it's for the best, oh well.
