shakin' the trees

what you are watching is an inside glimpse of the annual walnut harvest on our farm, blue ridge organic. this is a knocker...it shakes the tree gently to release all the nuts from the branches. after this step, a gathering machine sweeps all the nuts into a nice long pile in the middle of each row of trees. then they are all picked up and processed for your enjoyment!
