The car starts with a GYROSTARTER, you pull a lever, it starts a small electric motor spinning that is attached to a flywheel, it sounds like Helicopter starting up. Once the flywheel is up to speed, you throw down the lever, the flywheel engages the crankshaft and (hopefully) the engine cranks and starts.
