@zodiacbluesbaby He almost did. He was pursued by both Clapton's Derek And The Dominos - more specifically as the slide guitarist for the song, Layla - and Carlos Santana at about the same time when he was just 16 years old. In fact, he was already considered the best guitarist in Bay Area at any age then. Well, we know which way he went, and the rest, as they say, is history. FYI, that slide guitar position for Layla went to Duanne Allman, instead.

Tal Wilkenfeld - not even 30 years old, and she's played with Beck and Page... God is cruel...

steve lukather looks like a dark haired Bill Bailey

Got this disc recently and I love it!!!! The whole thing is great but Luke will always be in my top five favorite players.
-
Luke is my favorite! Neal is my second! So I'm in heaven!
-
so where's the finished track? id love to hear it
-
I'm sure he blows you away though.
-
Oh really? I'm sure you can do better.
Quincy Jones used him on everything, so how can he not be great?
He can play rock, funk, r & b, and anything in-between. Not many musicians can do that effectively.

@asiamuskie are you synister gates?

the matter is tht a really stupid lick...does no matter what I would have played....I mean Lukather is a professional and he would give more thn school lick to his audience...I suggest him to listen more and play less maybe...I feel this tune like a lesson in a guitar academy...And I'd prefer more Greg Howe or Jeff Beck for that....

@texasrose455km Only one Luke. That's what makes this recording special, each guitarist has such a unique musical voice.
