Although there have been no reported instances of fire in Chevrolet Volts owned by individuals, a fire did occur in one tested by NHTSA in May 2011. The company described the improvements, to be retrofitted to existing Volts at dealerships and fitted to new ones as they roll off the assembly line, in a Jan. 5, 2012 press conference at which it released this video.
