The Church in Haiti is still reeling from the deaths of her priests and religious. Archbishop Serge Miot of Port-au-Prince was a victim as were 31 seminarians. The Cathedral and the seminary have been destroyed and many of the country's 320 churches and chapels are severely damaged.

Although many of her buildings lie in ruins, the Church rapidly became one of the most effective helpers. Quietly, quickly and prudently, the apostolic nuncio, Archbishop Bernardito Auza, was involved on every front. Many of the aid agencies who came to help the victims of the earthquake will leave once the immediate emergency is over. As ever, the Church remains, like her people, among the ruins.

Featuring interviews with Archbishop Bernardito Auza, this short film of approximately 8 minutes available in both Spanish and English looks at the devastation brought on the Haitian Church and her people - and the reality of the long term reconstruction necessary in this country.
