There was a runway 24, maybe the club decided that 14/32. 20/02 and 27/09 (north and south) were ample for crosswind etc. Less maintenance to let 24/06 go to seed.

No, just barton airport, grass runways are usually bumpy

Hmmm, runway 20 at Barton Aerodrome if I am correct? I instructed there for a good few years, and that bounce is off the crossing runway 24 (not in use now) where it is easy to get launched into the air again
