@SingularSuperNinja LOL!! George WHO?? Linda Ronstadt was THE most famous female singer of the decade in the 1970's, toured Europe, was on the covers of numerous nat'l magazines, & had already sold many millions of albums when this was done (early 80s). I repeat-& no disrespect intended-WHO was George Rose? Never heard of him. He may have been big in elite theatre circles, but not to a majority of Americans. The play wouldn't have drawn NEARLY the crowds it did w/out her! I saw it twice-for HER!

Some great performances, the only thing that spoilt it for me was that girls looked more like Bett Midlers younger sisters than virginal English maidens.

I mean more it should be done in character order, ie Mabel and Frederick are the leads, Pirate King, General Stanley and Police Sergent are supporting characters, then highlighted daughters and Samuel (etc)
