  • Hi Dan:

Boonswoggled? We voted for him basically on two issues: ending the war and getting a national health program. What we got instead was a greatly expanded war (spending more on it than Bush did) and a new boost for the insurance and pharmaceutical industries at our expense. I'm not sure just what "accomplishments" you have in mind apart from the admirable feat of getting an African-American elected president.

  • @AdamHeilbrun He ended the war in Iraq and put the focus back where he SAID he would, which was Afghanistan. We DO have a new health care plan, just not all of it is in place yet. Already insurance companies have been prohibited from denying coverage for pre-existing conditions, an end to annual or lifetime maximum benefits, children being able to stay on their parent's insurance until age 26. DADT repealed, START Treaty ratified, Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, just to name a few.

  • The video is indeed beautiful and skillfully done. It's little wonder that it captured our imaginations. The Bush/Chaney fiasco had us all prepped.

So how sad it is now to realize that we've been boonswoggled once again. More than sad; tragic.

  • @AdamHeilbrun How have we been boonswoggled exactly? President Obama has been doing exactly what he said he would do during the campaign, and he's been doing it in the face of the most obstructionist Congress in history. He has accomplished more in 2 years than almost every other president in history. He never said that change would be easy and that he would continually need our help.

  • Wonderful Beautiful song, it does inspire hope. But I wonder if Pete supports what D Bama is doing in America?

  • Its the 10th of sept 2010. There is Pastor Terry Jones on one side in Florida.. homes bursting into flames in San Fransisco, families still hurting from their loss of nine years ago. I am not an American. I came to the US by choice ( 8 years ago) for the freedom it promised , for the integrity it stands for..

Today I have a sadness, a fear and a question.. has this country reduced to one of fear and ingratitude ?

This video sparks a tiny bit of hope in me.. perhaps things will turn around!

  • love it. Juan"freddie freak" Trujillo

  • There was a big high wall there that tried to stop me A sign atop it said Private Property But on the other side it didnt say nothing That side was made for you and me. In the squares of the city - In the shadow of the steeple Near the relief office - I see my people And some are grumblin' and some are wonderin' If this land's still made for you and me.
  • Powerful, moreso now that President Obama is in office. I think the song "This Land is Made for You and Me" could be a National song right up there with America and the Star Spangled Banner.
