Gardeners are busily working at the corner of Tonogaya-to garden in autumn.
Getting into the cold pond what is he doing?
He checks the appearance carefully then climes up to the top of the pine tree.
Catching the ropes thrown from the top, gardeners tie them to hang the branches.
Beautiful corn appeared.
This is called "Yuki-Tsuri" which protects branches from braking by heavy snow weight.
Yuki-Tsuri remind us Kenroku-en garden in Ishikawa prefecture which have heavy snow.
But why they are doing this in Tokyo where have rare snow fall.
Chief Gardener Mr. Kimura answered "Because there are no snow in Tokyo we make Yuki-Tsuri to feel the winter. It is not for practical use. It appeals the winter."
This was started about fifty years ago by Tokyo Metropolitan for ornaments.
And he is one of best stuff member. He prepares Yuki-Tsuri for other gardens which Tokyo Metropolitan has to maintain, like Hama-rikyu and more.
So for gardeners in Tokyo the colored autumn trees are signs to prepare for winter.
