  • @jackp22 Most of the stuff the so called black guys do come from Vinnie Coliauta, Dave Weckl, Steve Gadd, Buddy Rich, Tony Williams, Billy Cobham, Dennis Chambers, just to name a few. You don't have to be black to play gospel or any genre. It's just a preference. Need to get rid of this stereotype.

  • If you are a drummer and don't appreciate the cultural boundary of speed and style that this young man has conquered... You need to kill yourself.

  • this guy is a monster. Beast groove

  • @RCRhythm

Your argument is tin-foil and reaking race card. !

If you listen to and understand music, it does not necessarily escape someone because of their skin color. It is ridiculous to suggest that race ALONE somehow influences rhythmic ability.

I would say that the styles of music and culture that the is exposed to at a young age, or even to some degree later in life, dictate ability to know the virtues and failures of those styles you're playing.

  • @PositivelyBored Compelling argument.

  • @RCRhythm

    uh, no.

  • @XxStrongDrums1996xX hahaha lol, thank you :D

  • @jaleesamg They are more commonly known for their actual orchestration around the drums. For example, as the other guy said, a roll down the tom toms. You don't want to get the two confused, because like I said before, they mean the same thing, but understanding the differences that people apply to the two terms is essential to not getting bitched at LOL.

  • @jaleesamg "chop" and "fill" are abstract terms that technically refer to the same thing, but have different connotation. A chop has the connotation of a complex pattern. As the guy who replied to you said, a chop's focus is on the underlying concept, and not the actual orchestration. For example, a favorite chop of mine is "RLRRLFRLRRLF". The pattern is what matters, and how you orchestrate it is what makes it your own. A fill has a connotation as a simplistic accentuation.

  • I think it's silly to say that there is no observable difference between the majority of caucasian drummers and the majority of drummers of African descent. Obviously, there are lots of exceptions; but the stereotype that black drummers have a more intuitive sense of "funkiness" comes from years of observation. And, if I remember right, there are published studies on the heretability of rhythm as a genetic trait. It's not racism at all; it's just reality.

    And this guy is dope.
