I have a DS-1 but I don't like it. It's ok for chord work, but doesn't have ebough gsain for solo's for me anyway. I also have a metal zone, but it's too heavy! lol I only like to use them when I can't use my Marshall tube amp, ie for recording late at night etc

Best BOSS distortion. So much variety. Whereas the Metal Zone can only do Thrash Metal lead, Metal Core can only do metal rhythm, the overdrives can only do a basic distortion, this can do any of those things.

I totally agree with you. The DS-1 is extremely versatile. I own almost every boss overdrive including, DS-1, SD-1, OD-3, BD-2, and the MT-2. The OD-3 is the best of the overdrives then the BD-2 which if turned up gets into a fuzz. The MT-2 is great because, like the DS-1 it is very versatile. Overall the DS-1 is an awesome stock pedal. Mix and match overdrives and distortions along with the amp distortion to find the best tone.
