YOU'LL NOTICE THAT THIS IS MY FIRST TIME. IF YOU READ THE DESCRIPTION YOU'LL UNDERSTAND THAT. WHICH IS WHY I DON'T / DIDN'T KNOW EVERYTHING AT THE TIME. For instance, you can apparently slide out the cd-rom drive after removing all the screws on the bottom of the computer, which would then allow you to get to the two hidden screws that I couldn't.

This is somewhat of a tutorial (a long one at that, but it gets the job done) on how to disassemble an HP laptop. I was looking for one of these when I was having trouble with my laptop and now that its dead I decided to go ahead and make a video on how to take it apart. This was my first time disassembling a HP laptop, and for that matter any laptop. Which is why this video wasn't really organized as I didn't know what I needed to do. So you'll see me fiddling around with a bunch of stuff taking my time trying to figure out what the next step is. This video is for your benefit in case you need to take apart your own HP laptop sometime. There are other tutorials on how to disassemble older style laptops (older HP, Gateways, etc) but this is the only one that I know of that gives you the idea of how to take apart the newer HP laptops.

WARNING:
THIS WILL BY ALL MEANS VOID YOUR WARRANTY. YOU WILL NOT SEE ANY WARRANTY STICKERS IN THIS VIDEO BECAUSE THEY HAD ALREADY BEEN REMOVED BY MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP IN THE 'OFFICAL' DIAGNOSIS. SO I CANNOT WARN YOU WHERE THE SEALS ARE OR WERE AND I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE YOU CAUSE BY FOLLOWING THIS TUTORIAL.

  • I have the same computer. Best buy told me it was the motherboard. I went to computer parts store, and they told me it was the video chip that had to be changed. I only paid $80 to have them change it. The hp pavillion dv2000 video chips are known to go bad. Save your money

  • @jaylov168 problem is that on this board the chip is soldered on. There is no easy way to replace the chip. You would have to replace the board.

  • For anyone who's watching this and needs a new laptop. I went on to work for a while repairing laptops, we only supported Dells and Lenovos (laptop program). From what I saw, Lenovo is not much better than HP and the Dells were solid hardware wise. The Dells that were in the program were 3 yrs old, cosmetically some of them had LCD mounts that would snap from fatigue after 3 yrs. Would buy business class though not consumer since those are made in USA or allied country. [Read not china].

  • Same laptop as me, turion 64 x2 2.10 GHz right? This computer fucking pisses me off cause it overheats so much, the whole left side go's crazy hot im running windows 7 64bit can you help me?

  • @jewsmakingmovies Yea same laptop, same symptoms. Not really, I heard lately that there might have just recently been a recall (there wasn't one when mine broke) you might want to check into that. I would but mine is all gone, so it doesn't matter for me.
