The Adventures of William Tell - The Magic Powder Pt2

Switzerland has been conquered by the Austrians, and is now ruled with a rod of iron by the ruthless Gessler. William Tell stands up to him, but is captured by Gessler and as punishment forced to shoot an apple from his son's head. Tell succeeds, but had secreted a second arrow about his person in case he had failed, which would have been used to kill Gessler. Gessler finds out about this, and Tell takes to the hills with his wife and son. There, they gather a band of followers and begin a fight against the heavy taxes to rob the rich to give to the poor. This series of 39 b/w episodes made by ITC/ATV ran from 15/09/58 to 15/06/59

@TIGERTABCAT Know wot you mean. Our village chippy was run by a trouser bandit and his ugly foul tempered mother ! No Landberger Gesslers there ! However at school we used to sing:---Come away come away with William Tell, stick a banger up his arse and run like Hell !

When I was a kid, we used to go to a chip shop run by a very fat man who looked just like the landburgher Ghessler. He knew we thought he looke like Ghessler and he waited for a remark from us...... Fixing us with an aggresive beady eye.

We would say three pennorth of chips please,. When he handed them over , still glaring at us , we would say thank you..................LANDBURGH­ER... Then run like hell He would chuck frozen pies at us.............

I loved this as a kid. I use to call a teacher I hated Gessler and he had no idea why.
