Michael Young is an Associate Professor of Management and Associate Director of MBA and MScBM programmes at Hong Kong Baptist University. Professor Young received a B.A. in economics from West Virginia State University and an M.A. in economics and Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Connecticut. In addition to academic employment, Professor Young has worked for family firm, in the banking industry and for state government in the US. He has lived in Hong Kong since 1998 and his research interests involve corporate governance, the management of Asian firms, state-owned enterprise reform in China, and financial and organizational economics. He has over 80 peer-reviewed cases, conference presentations and journal publications. He has taught undergraduate and/or graduate courses on managing and financing business startups, basic business research methodology, international management, business policy and strategy, strategic human resource management, micro and macro economics, the history of economic thought, economic development, and labor economics.
