This is a live solo acoustic performance in Germany of 'God Said No' by Dan Bern. I like the ability of Dan to tell a story with just an acoustic guitar and voice. He's a fantastic songwriter who deserves to be better known. I hope this video might help in this regard.
Dan Bern (also known as Bernstein); born 27 July 1965) is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, novelist and painter. His music is often compared to that of Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Bruce Springsteen, Phil Ochs and Elvis Costello. He is a prolific composer, having written over 600 songs. He also wrote the novel 'Quitting Science' (2004) under the pen name 'Cunliffe Merriwether' and wrote the preface under his own name.
You can find his CDs, downloads etc on his web page at http://www.danbern.com/ There are also numerous audience recordings of complete concerts on the site 'Internet Archive' (where this song came from).
There is no film of this performance, so I have put together this slideshow. Comments are welcome.
I really enjoy this. But I do prefer Craig Cardiff's cover of this song personally

Beautiful performance and slideshow. Enjoyed the song enough to click on your link to Dan's site and ... sigh ... part of his most recent album was recorded at the Boulton Center... just around the corner. Hope they have him back!

I saw him in Berlin roughly the same time, maybe the same Germany trip. This is such a good recording; where did you get it, and is the rest of the concert available?
