ideally yeah, but it doesnt always happen. if you are the referee, you just cant see everything, and i mean everything, they didnt made the no .1 rule protect yourselves at all time for nothing.

@bjlibrero yeah that's true... but it is also standard for the ref to always look at the fighters...if the fighters should protect their selves at all times the ref should be looking at them at all times!

Cortez didn't even SEE the punches that knocked out Ortiz. For all he knew Ortiz could've been knocked out by a spinning flying kick from Chuck Norris. Cortez needs to retire, now.
