just a pointless observation...for some reason i find that the gundams in the older series (i.e. UC century timeline...MSG, zeta, 0083) use head-mounted vulcans more often than those in the newer series nowadays (seed, GSD, gundam 00, wing).

i find the head vulcan to be a fairly useful weapon on a mobile suit. last backup/close combat weapon. also useful if u want to force the enemy to back off and prevent him from carrying out melee attack

Actually, at least in the original UC universe, beam weapons use a kind of ammo. Beam weapons fire minovsky particles that are compressed into mega-particles. So you either need a steady supply of minovsky particles which come from fusion generators or an energy pack pre-charged with mega-particles. Both of which can run out.

Their GN drives never run out and their weapons run on the drive.

The reason Trans-Am has a limited duration is because the drive needs time to compress enough particles in order to release them for a long enough duration.

Exia Has Wrist mounted Beam Vulcans so Exia isnt entirely reliant on swords alone.

Some series did run out of ammo for beam weapons.For example Wing Gundam beam rifle only had 3 shots and then it had to recharge.Head vulcan's are really use in terms of making the enemy keep their distance.00 gundam time era is far ahead head vulcans are probably not need everything is beam

beam weapons also can run out of ammo, only some types of weapons have an infinite amount of supply only if they have a special equipment, for exmaple, the TallgeeseIII, its main mega cannon is hooked up to the suit and it can and needs to be re-charged but the beam sabers it has the shield not only acts as a defensive weapon it also acts as a power supply to the beam sabers. and it really depends on the era, like 00, everything is run on solar power or the GN Particles

uh yeah in just about EVERY gundam series other than this new shit your kids come all over. its pretty ignorant to fucking think they NEVER run out of ammo, because if they did they wouldnt need more than one fucking weapon.
