Joba's future as of now is as a starter.
-
Joba will not close. That would be wasting him. Leave him alone as the setup man this year. He is an ACE. You don't mess with that.
-
Joba too young to close? What about Papelbon for the Sox, did alright as a closing rookie. The big question is why take a hot, dominating pitcher out of the game. Bring him out for the 9th, if he struggles, you got Mo to come in. You don't have to officially make him the closer, and Mo his set up man, but if he's hot in the 8th, let him go the 9th. Mo can be saved and rest, and come in if need be.
-
I meant there was no reason for taking Joba out of the game after a perfect (and again dominating) 8th.
-
With 2 shaky saves appearances in a row for Rivera, what do you think now? There was no reason to take him out of the 9th in the Baltimore game tonight, when he pitched a perfect 8th. Mariano is lucky (or should I say Torre for making the change) that the Yanks won it in the bottom of the 9th.
-
What about Edwar Ramírez as a the set up man to Joba. I like Edwar's palmball. Or 7th Ramírez, 8th Joba, 9th Rivera. Let me know what you think
-
joba chamberlains future with the yanks is as a starter. This year he will be in the pen as a setup, but the envision him as a starter as the should. Mo can still pitch a few more years so they dont have to replace him yet. There really is no replacing him, that will be tough
-
Joba is too young to close, I think he will follow close to mo, but come on, its Mariano Rivera, don't get me wrong I like Joba, but The way they used Mo in '96, is as a setup much like joba's role now, its a great setup for closing in the future
-
Mo needs to be set-up man again, just like in '96. He's getting old and a little shaky at times. Don't get me wrong, he's still the king of all closers, but a new man has come. Joba is our new Wetteland. Let JOBA CLOSE!!!
Mo's the best!
Go yankees!!
