This address was given at the University of california at Santa Cruz. Shortly after Dr. Sagan was arrested at the Nevada Nuclear test site. He was participating in an act of non-violent civil disobedience to protest continued U.S. nuclear testing in the face of a unilateral Soviet moritorium.

  • MYNDSET sent me here!

  • I TOTALLY agree, Science is being murdered and a theology is being put over it's place. This is a dangerous time.

Carl was unique - may his legacy shine.

  • ... the governing to satisfy corporations interests, etc. all of these things is driving civilization into a total state of imbalance that I believe will bring catastrophic results in many levels. We have brains, we can take control of our future. Let us think about the consequences of the changes we are making and start doing things that will have a positive influence in the future. Because there will be a point where we won't have control.

  • Sagan had such wisdom. I wonder what he would say about the problems we face today. I believe that the systematic destruction of the education system of the US and countries which stupidly and blindly follow its example is the main threat to civilization today.

A generation of people with much less education than those before them seem to be in too many positions of power. Disregard for science, the desire to convert the country into a theocracy (where religion instead of the people rule)...
