Don't do a re-make, how about a prequel! We see what happens when the first ship lands, with the Walter Pidgeon character. How they discover the Krell's stuff, the struggle over what to do, how they die, etc. Now that would be cool!
Maybe the screenwriters thought that they were modeling their script on Shakespeare's "The Tempest" but they really re-created Robert Louis Stevenson's "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde." The sinister, brutal alter-ego that lurks in the dark, killing its enemies without mercy or compunction, is right out of Stevenson's vision of the dual nature of the human psyche in which the parts are at war with each other and the non-rational part ultimately overwhelms the rational part.
thanks for sharing. every movie fan should risk a look at this.
