Lew Dite with his tenor banjo
A song the Chas McDevitt Skiffle Group taught me to love.
Actually this is the song that made me fall in love with skiffle music and so it holds a special place in my heart.
THUS THE REASON FOR THE FANCY VIDEO EFFECTS.
The Cotton Song was the "B" side to Freight Train ("A" side) by Nancy Whiskey and the Chas McDevitt Skiffle Group.
When I heard The Cotton Song (1957) I was immediately struck by the accessibility of the music. This song by the Chas McDevitt Skiffle Group reminded me of the campfire singing that I experienced as a young boy.
Within weeks I had started my own skiffle group.

  • I'm actually considering starting a skiffle group. You and Lonnie Donegan have inspired me.

  • Go for it!
