@TheAppDeveloper Your right; it was meant for cornet. But, it should be played on trombone because it is twice as difficult since there are no valves. It shows great skill.
-
We know that at least one person is a jealous trumpet player.
-
@SnowballSamples no it actually wasnt. Arban was Jean-Baptiste Arban was a cornet player, and he wrote this piece for trumpet. You will find it in the Arban complete method book for euphonium and trombone, because the book itself was transcribed from trumpet, to trombone.

@taylorswiftrockmysox She declared the contest a tie and we rotated first chair every week. I do not think that if it had been your mom I would have had a problem with it, since she was clearly better than me. But I really gave that frosh a hard time. Wish I could find him today and apologize.

@taylorswiftrockmysox You just brought back a flood of bad memories. My senior year I walked into class to find out they had given my first chair position to...a freshman! I threw a fit and walked out. The rector said the only option I had was to take another class, which was out of the question. The band director came up with a solution. We would both play prepared pieces that she would judge. I chose one from Arban, but I did not dare try Carnival.

@TitusVeneficus yes, i know. My mom was the only girl on the trombone. My moms 50, so yeah, i Think back then it was unthinkable. When my mom went into highschool. My mom toke the first chair away from a senior. But he had a fit and she had to be second. My mom is amazing and awesome
-
@taylorswiftrockmysox OMG! You are a girl! Forgive me, but in my day that was unthinkable. In every band I played in, Jr High, Sr High, Wake Forest University, DC Community Orchestra, I had never played alongside a female on trombone. I'm glad I did not meet your mom, because if she had been better than me (and it sounds like she was), I would have quit! Times have changed now though.
that was reallly good. to bad he bumbed the last note, killer
