We decided we would like a couple of hens in our Garden near Bristol. Grizelda contacted The Battery Hen Welfare Trust (www.thehenshouse.co.uk) and I collected three 18 month old hens from Gordano Service station Car park on the M5 near Bristol. This is what happened when they got to their new home after spending all of their previous life in a battery cage.

  • @Cla900 I agree, humanely means very little, if anything at all. Though I will never understand the thing they call "vegetarianism" while eating dairy. The dairy industry is one of the most vile. And if you are a woman eating dairy, know that cows, as a female species, are treated terribly, constantly raped and losing their babies. They cry for days after they give birth and have baby taken away.

  • WHY ARE YOU EATING CHICKEN. They are no different than the ones outside. You hypocrite. =.=

  • I've noticed some radical comments. I have 7 chickens, and they're very happy. For a treat, I will catch a grasshopper, and give it to my chickens. As a matter of fact, I sometimes give chicken to my chickens because they love the taste of delicious meat.

  • @WeLoveBeingRandom He kills more than saving them basically. there is no difference between saving some to not eat, and eating one like every week. It's just so hypocritical. I would never eat meat, ever, and to eat it while having them as companions makes no sense. I wouldn't care about his dietary choice if he didn't eat the brothers and sisters of who he saved.

  • My chickens are so precious to me. I can't imagine eating them.

  • Reminds me of ben her. On the gallys as a slave in the worst conditions, then taken to rome to live a luxerious life.

  • I like your cat. Btw what is a battery hen? I've never heard of that...

  • Hi Gordon :-) I also got three ex-batt's!...We have had ours for nearly a year now, but sadly we don't have eggs from them any more (but we did have a good amount from them before they stopped!)....We now also have, a Light Sussex, Warren, Black Rock and a Barred Rock!.... As this video was posted in 2007, I doubt you still have the original three, but wondered if you got any more ex-battery hens, or maybe bought some POL's? All the best Muzzy :-)

  • my mum was ther and got some they r so cool
