Still with a cold, but at least it lets me hit a few low notes!

Well, this is just the first verse of a chantey -- the only bit given by Hugill -- as a sample of a variant version of "The Lowlands Low" ballad / capstan chantey (the "Golden Vanitee" theme).

The opening melodic figure is one I have found to be common to numerous sea songs.

    The lyrics of this song inspire my nightmares.

    No. Seriously.

    All I can imagine when I hear this song is sailors sitting, playing cards and dice and talking about what they are going to do when they return home, and then one of them hears a noise... and then the water spurts out a hole, then another, and the sailors are panicking trying to block the holes, and...
