  • @AnasheedCast I took it up to 281 volts on the variac at 2:05, it just kept running! This one seems quite robust considering ALL the rest I bought at the same time failed rather nastily, luckily they weren't left unattended!

  • The fluorescent lamp/dimmer combination does not suffer instantaneous catastrophic failure. It can take hours to weeks for the current spikes to cause component failure. It is that end failure that involves stuff blowing up.
