  • hmmm, "peacecouldlast4ever" and you made that comment, thank you for appologising, glenprior I was thinking about the possibilities of a "Bright Clean" guitar made out of maple, I looked around for a online resource and found your guitar, Was the wood fairly good to handle and do you recommend using Hard Maple to someone else?

  • Yes the wood was great to handle. It is a pure block of maple. I still have two more of the maple blocks left. My wife and daughter were thinking of making a guitar out of the block too. We used a band saw and a router and the wood was fine. Years ago I made a 31-meantone marimba out or East Indian Rosewood and although the tone was well worth the effort, the wood seemed to be denser and more subject to cracking than the maple we used for the guitar. Glen

  • what did you write on the headstock?

  • The fret board came with the headstock and it has the name of Johnson on it and below it it says Est.1993. We got that beautiful fretboard on ebay and we attached it by bolts the the homemade guitar blank. Glen

  • dude sorry about that comment i took a closer look and realised that you were right sorry... Great Job by the way

  • Thanks. I appreciate that. Glen

  • How do you feel about the weight of this guitar? Being solid maple, is it excessively heavy?

  • @LischZeb I think he needs to take some guitar lessons from Marty..

  • OMG its Doc Brown, from Back to The Future!!!

  • @glenprior i am currently building a guitar out of som hard maple and was wondering how bright the wood acually makes the guitar sound i play metal so maybe yoou could tell me how good it sounds with a fair amount of distortion and for any one else hard maple is awesome to handle and work with
