Generally in the past, a Captain would have started his piloting career as a Flight Engineer, then get promoted to First Officer, then finally Captain. So in a sense, he would know what that panel is for, but probably wouldn't have to know if he had never worked as an Engineer on that specific plane. These days, the role of the Flight Engineer is performed by computers and automatic pumps. Sad fact.

So that I understand you right... You and your fellows keep her in that condition? That´s so wonderfull ! It is my absolute favourite jetliner. I guess it is very expensive and need´s a lot of time. I´am very proud of you. You´re doing an outstanding job. Maximum respect from me ! This jet has to survive ! It made history ! Best regards !

@Redden08 Maybe Old airframe, cost too much... Best off anyway .. imagine if something went wrong and it crashed, then there would be no Comet Canopus XS235 and that would be an awful shame :(.

So there are no Comets flying in the world? THAT is very sad.
Beautiful airplane.

What's wrong with it so that it can't fly but only taxi?

hey coldwarjets do you think that 'canopus' will ever fly again? I think we should start collecting money in the effort of getting this old lady back in the air, like with Vulcan XH558. who's with me?

What a pitty this Canopus Comet doesn't fly anymore , why not putting it in airworthy condition again , paint it in B.O.A.C. and make exclusive round the world flights with it and also shorter fun flights with it , I bet people would pay a lot of money to fly on a Comet these days .

Sadly she hasn't flown since 1997 when she left RAF service. However we keep her in ground running condition so that we can fast taxy.
