DDR X (US) stage performance

Here's a look at the sensitivity of a DDR X (US) stage. My feet are fully on the panels and slight shifts in weight will cause them to stop registering. That doesn't seem like particularly impressive behavior for a 2-day old machine.

Wow, it looks awful. I play on a mediocre SN2 machine (SN1 dedicab) that holds freezes better than this. I'm really hoping that the release-version of the US cab isn't this bad, because if it is then it adds plenty of complication to finding a good machine to play on.

Also, the "one slap of metal" design on these pads looks awful. It's reminding me of those brackets that a Cobalt Flux's arcade mod uses. I took them (the brackets) off of my CF because they were so annoying.

Wasn't this a breaking in related issue? One that SN2 dedicabs faced too? OR am I mixing it up with another issue?

I don't know. I've never played on an SN2 dedicated cabinet. I have played on a few SN1 dedicated cabinets. My recollection is that if they had problems, it was with them sticking on, not cutting out.

I am blessed. I live in London and we have the original DDR X beta cab that was doing the rounds before the London Trocadero bought it for Funland Arcade. It's recently been upgraded to the full mix, and I have to say, apart from the lag it plays great. Betson are asshats. I really feel sorry for you guys in the US.

Yeah the mall I was at has a test machine for a month and it was terrible. After 2 days it felt like the sync was late on some songs and early on some and the arrows were not working.

Well balls, that just sucks. On the bright side, maybe this will finally convince Konami to finally leave Betson. Someone on DDR Freak (I think it was on DDR Freak anyway) said that their arcade got one of these and it was "Out of order" after 4 days of use.

Also DDR X itself seems to kind of suck. I dunno, maybe it's just the announcer, but DDR just isn't what it used to be. Too bad no one wants to give Pump a chance.

I have played on a Japanese DDRX machine while I was in Fukuoka, Japan and let me tell you it was an AWESOME experience! However, seeing what they did with the US cabinets, boy what a letdown! I would rather pay $20,000 + international shipping for a good quality machine rather than $10,000 for a cheaply built localized machine.
