Isaac Rodrigues presents a link demonstration of the telecommunications subsystem. A pair of Yaesu VX-3R radios were used with TinyTrak4 terminal node controllers (TNC, e.g. modems). CubeSatKit's development board, incorporating a MSP430F1612, is used as an autonomous system to simulate a CubeSat communication session.

  • hi, Isaac graduated about a year ago with a BS in Electrical Engineering, focusing on control/communications systems.

  • this was great issac thank you.what degree are you studying for?

  • Yep

  • We're actually not using or setting a standard method. But in space, our particular project requires us to conserve power. Transmitting with the radio uses about 160 times the power of our base operating power.

Thus, we desire to only transmit telemetry and bulk data when our satellite is called upon, and beacon periodically to let us know it's still alive.

  • do u need another set of TNC (+VX-3R )which is shown on the left side of the movie in the Ground base PC?

  • I understand part of your TNC demostation sesssion using a transceiver on both ends, but you need to give command before the cubesat feedback to you. my transceiver will continue to send me telemetry to me. DO I really do the same procedure to acheive this standard...?
