I believe they said that it was just a demo for the PS3, and weren't really looking to remake it, atleast not anytime soon. They have kind of hinted that it's an idea, but as far as I know they aren't working on it.

It's Final Fantasy 7, the most amazing game ever! It first came out in '97 so yeah, kind of old, but still just as amazing.
