1978 YZ 400

1978 Yamaha YZ 400 I partially restored over a couple months and now sold and some other toys I have and have had in the last four years.

I got a YZ 400 and we are not sure if it is a 1978 or a 1979. We need a air filter for it... could both these air filters fit on it what ever year it is?

Wahts the difference between the 78 yz 400 and the 79?

@mckee20101 pretty much everything is different... 77 and 78 are the same but they changed a lot of stuff for 79.

i have the Yamaha yz 80 1976 and the old bikes go good so am gonna see aboot the 400cc

I used to have a 78 YZ 400 back in 1980 to 1986. It had White Brothers suspension and a Wiseco piston. It was a Cadillac compared to my 1974 CZ 400. What a reliable bike. I loved twisting that throttle wide open.
