I don't use it, but here is a little trick. Put a zip tie around impeller (towards the outer end) turning the vanes in the right direction then put the impeller in and cut the zip tie.
I have a Sherwood pump (think its a G903) I want to know how can I tell the right direction to put in the seals. I can't find a diagram. Can you email me at mstuart1@aol.com ? 562-618-3778 cell

The zip tie trick works pretty good if you are having problems getting it to go in there. I have used it before and forgot about that. Thanks for pointing it out.
I looked for a diagram and couldn't find one either, but if the pump is still on the boat, remove the coil wire so the engine won't start and crank it over. If you can't see which direction the pump is rotating hopefully you can at least see one of the belts on the engine and from that you can figure out which way it rotates.
