Horror of the Blood Monsters (trailer)

I first caught this movie early one groggy Sunday afternoon following an all night bender of...well, let's just say "psychotropic brain enhancers". This was sometime in the mid to late 80's, and when I came to on the living room floor this flick was playing on the old USA Network "Commander USA's Groovy Movies" show. I'd woke up smack dab in the middle of the goddamn thing without a single clue to explain the insanity I was seeing, and I was instantly both flabbergasted and entranced. Nowadays when I watch this flick, some twenty years after my first viewing, I AM STILL without a single clue to explain the insanity I am seeing, and I AM STILL instantly both flabbergasted and entranced. Could this be Al Adamson's best movie?!

kinda. the bulk of the footage is from a 1965 filipino caveman movie that al bought, and then shot additional footage for using some of his cast regulars. i think the "dinosaur" footage was borrowed from yet another film. the actual movie is a lot more confusing than the trailer makes it out to be! you can find more details by checking the IMDb, or the site DVD Drive-In (not my site, btw. look for a link from the external reviews page of HORROR's IMDb entry)...

well it IS a classic after all, haha. i almost forgot that the psychedelic space footage was ripped from the equally amazing grade-Z turd, THE WIZARD OF MARS.

Skeeziest trailer of all time. Ya gotta take a shower afterwards. From the washed-out Kodachrome filmstock to the icky Manny Paquiao flying midget monkeys. The Bela Lugosi style narration insults everyone's intelligence who didn't get to the drive-in via a trailer park. All hallmarks of a GREAT trailer.

This is a surefire contender for worst movie of all time. You know a movie is bad when all the scenes that contain any kind of action (or lack thereof, in the case of Horror of the Blood Monsters) are stock footage from other movies. Amazing how Z-grade movie directors were still getting mileage out of One Million B.C. stock footage even in 1970.
