Meredith Danluck is a New York artist, director, and all-around amazing person who has a killer collection of power tools. VBS bumped into her a few months ago and discovered that she has been working on a film in West Virginia, a sort of impressionistic account of the current environmental catastrophe in the Appalachian Mountains. Mining companies are destroying entire mountains in order to get at the coal inside them. Quickly and efficiently, the oldest mountain range in the world is being systematically obliterated. We sent Meredith and VBS correspondent Derrick Beckles to the hills and hollers of West Virginia to show us what the end of the world looks like.

  • Killing yourself to make a living.

  • @Netguy1121 don't need a full dissertation, nor quotes from wikipedia. If you have ever been to WVa, many people there had family that fought for the south. there were guerilla armies, very few places exhibited the "brother vs brother" aspect of that war moreso than west virginia

  • @Netguy1121 You should check your facts, a large portion of WVa supported the south. Check a map and see where the mason-dixon line runs.

  • That is no differnet then a women selling herself for sex, only to get AIDS and die shortly after. It has the same meaning. A little now and screw all the people who will follow. Gerneration after gerneration.

Once the resouces are used up to a point, the US will have a mass die off. How old will your children be in 10 to 30 years?
