You may be right in what you have said. It is certainly possible. I am not 100% sure on what I said, so don't take that to be an absolute fact. Im sure your right, but there is also a chance it could be to help with the game running more smoothly. In just 9 days we will find out for sure.

heres some info I found out,
occasionally a ps3 game requires an install, it lets the console access the data quicker and is meant to shorten loading times.
not all games have it only a few. some it is optional (ridge racer 7) So it should be optional but some games may require you to do so. that's the best I can do for now.

your PS3 should only have to install demo's not games. All the games I have, like Motorstorm, Virtua Tennis immediatly work without installing them. I have bought demo discs and you have to install the games from the disc, but 4 a full game u shouldn't have 2. So u shouldn't have to install the games, it shouldn't be madatory.
I will do some research on it and let u know asap

The Map for GTA 4 is large, about the same size of GTA San Andreas. On Youtube search put in 'GTA 4 Map leaked' and there is a video showing you the whole map.
