  • Thanks for the post! In february, he's singing Arturo in Puritani in Amsterdam. This Tonio is the first I hear from Osborn, a nice 'warm up'!

  • I'm glad you like it! If you get a chance to talk to him, tell him you saw this video. :)

  • It is DEFINITELY the same production! Please post more if you can... <3 Me

  • Oh by the way I require payment from the singer in the form of overpriced fruity girl-drinks served in martini glasses. I've opened a beverage account for him. So if you happen to see or maybe even, I don't know, KNOW him, please tell him. ;) Thanks.

  • I believe this is Opera Pacific 1999 with Bonynge conducting and Chris Irmiter as Sulpice... nice add. :)

  • imita un pò rockwell blake...secondo me....e penso che gli ultimi do sono un po al limite.....mio parere...anche se poi risolve con una cadenza in re che sempre secondo me non c'entra nulla!!

    Cmq buon professioniata!

  • I like the voice but I DON'T like the recomposition he does at the end! Sing what the composer wrote or do a free cadenza WHERE IT IS ASKED FOR!

  • @Luindriel I guess he is!! Lucky you (and us)

  • @Randidan Thanks for your comment! John actually gave me the recording and the photo to make this. He is an amazing singer and a really nice guy. :)

  • @Luindriel There aren't enough stars in the heavens to award him for this and, esp, the perf I saw!! ...It was a charming perf anyway, in spite of his wife's voice being too small for that barn of a house, but he stood out like a champ, obviously! They did a "Barbiere" together the next year in a smaller theatre nearby, and it was just as charming... And there aren't enough stars for you, either, for finding and posting this!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH !! Into my favorites file, hooray!

  • @upncomingnow It definitely looks & sounds like the same production -- I was there and always wished I had a video of the perf I saw. Apparently he just couldn't help interpolating high notes; the nite I saw it he tripped over the feet of one of the seated choristers, or appeared to, just as he came to the final "mili -TAIR-uh" and did a graceful(!!) forward somersault and came back up doing a triplet on "tair" that started 2 notes above the C before dropping to the final note!

  • Hey Luindriel, is there's a way to find a recording of John singing Nadir in the Pearl's Fishers??
