The Temptations were the most successful black vocal group in the history of popular music, and when you think about that, that's saying a lot. After a few misses when they began recording for Motown, Smokey Robinson was given a chance to work with the group, and "I Want A Love I Can See" was their first collaboration. This recording released in March of 1963 with Paul Williams taking the lead vocal was another "miss" as far as the pop charts go, but the song has gained an ever increasing audience through the years as people look back on the career and music of one of Motown's greatest acts.

  • The original is always best. Paul gives me a chill

  • Great, great song...Why did this get no airplay back in the day????? Best of the Temps pre David Ruffin, who took Al Bryant's place not long after this recording.

  • Mr. Williams … what a voice… so much soul… Sing In Peace King!!!

  • This song is very popular among hand dancers and steppers. In fact, it was in a hand dancing club that I first heard the song ten years ago.
