(Sacramento) On the heels of the revelation that salmonella contamination occurred at a California-based pistachio processing plant and subsequent recall of over 1 million pounds of pistachios in 31 states, Assembly Speaker Karen Bass and Assemblymember Mike Feuer (D-Los Angeles) have introduced sweeping legislation to help ensure that foods processed in California meet rigorous safety standards. Once again California consumers and retailers are facing another food product recall. Thats unacceptable, said Speaker Bass. Californians need to have confidence in the food we put in our bodies and retailers need to have confidence in the products they stock on their shelves. Heres more in this Assembly Access video.
