The Twilight Zone (S2 Ep63) Original airdate: May 12, 1963

Mr. Archibald Beechcroft is presented a book titled "The Mind and the Matter," which deals with the ultimate in concentration.. a book on the power of thoughts..

(opening narration) A brief, if frenetic, introduction to Mr. Archibald Beechcroft, a child of the twentieth century, a product of population explosion, and one of the inheritors of the legacy of progress. Mr. Beechcroft again. This time act two of his battle for survival. And in just a moment, our hero will begin his personal one man rebellion against the mechanics of his age, and to do so he will enlist certain aids available only in the Twilight Zone..

(closing narration) Mr. Archibald Beechcroft, a child of the twentieth century, who has found out through trial and error - and mostly error - that with all it's faults it may well be that this is the best of all possible words. People notwithstanding, it has much to offer. Tonight's case in point from the Twilight Zone..

  • @TheMelj11 Thanks for your comment. People are so are illogical; taking this to the extreme the only real Americans are those now called Native Americans. I'm afraid I have a little problem with that now as, without even the slightest racist impliction - I can't refer to a certain kind of western movie as Cowboys and Native Americans - it just scans wrong. :) But have to use just "western" which is less specific.

  • @2011littlejohn1 due to the restrictive immigration policies of the last century many people where not considered “real” americans at one time or another. i.e. irish, italians, japanese, chinese, mexicans/any central and south americans. The longer they stay, the more they “assimilate,” the more “real” americans begin to accept them (then the newest immigrants in turn become the “foreigners”). But this is the 1960’s, so the Jewish thing is probably just plain old racism.

  • @BRUMARTUBE i think he made parts 1,2 and 4 of ''the silence'' episode disappear aswell lol

  • And if he eliminated all the people in the world, who is he working for? I thought away his boss. ;)

  • I like it when he mada all the people look like himself. That was funny. ;)

  • Okay...I always wondered this...if there are no more people but Beechcroft, how is it that the trains are still running then? Don't you need a conductor or an engineer to drive it?

  • @2011littlejohn1 The U.S. is a big country. Someone like Mr. Beechcroft would seem very foreign to someone in the Mid-West especially in 1961. People would be inclined to ask, "What kind of an American is he?"

  • You know this must be a US thing, Apart from when they're wearing their traditional clothes or hair styles I can't tell a Jewish person from anybody else. Don't misunderstand me I'm not saying this is bigoted but in the UK we don't put people into groups like say Italian or Polish unless that is their nationality. However US people do if they are of that descent. Is this related to immigration do you think?

  • And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. watch?v=wbHi63F7cIQ

  • go away! hehe
