Yes a new breed of hummingbird - the Nano Hummingbird.

"AeroVironment, Inc. has demonstrated a tiny new drone called a 'Nano Hummingbird.' The hand-made prototype aircraft has a wingspan of 16 centimeters (6.5 inches) tip-to-tip and has a total flying weight of 19 grams (2/3 ounce), which is less than the weight of a common AA battery. This includes all the systems required for flight; batteries, motors, communications systems and video camera. The aircraft can be fitted with a removable body fairing, which is shaped to have the appearance of a real hummingbird. The aircraft is larger and heavier than an average hummingbird, but is smaller and lighter than the largest hummingbird currently found in nature."

  • Halcion days my friend : ) peace

  • In this vid I have found that hummimg birds have diffrent kinds of wings..... Theirs can not fold them to do diffrent kinds of flight. They are cute, and I have enjoyed this vid. THAND YOU!!!!!!

  • I feel so relaxed.

  • You've taken some very nice vids of these sweet little guys. It's so much fun to study them. I've noticed that they do chase mosquitoes and other small bugs, and that the ruby throats use that red to flash the others before the attack. Amazing little birds.

  • If you can make the trip. go to Mule Shoe Ranch in Az. There are more specie of Hummers there than anywhere. a Very cool place owned by the Nature Conservancy.

  • I envy you for watching and filming hummingbirds. They are really beautiful to watch...

  • You always get great video of hummingbirds!

We have a lot of them around here in Arizona. One of the most interesting behaviors I have seen is when I have hiked to the top of one of the peaks near here is that they will fly high above the top of the mountain and then dive over a hundred feet . They will go so high that you can no longer see them and then dive straight down past the top of the peak.

  • Y the heck would they make it a Humming bird?!!? I mean...sure I get that they can hover, which is useful....but honestly they couldn't have picked a WORSE place to stick a camera...Hummingbirds ALWAYS attract attention! Whenever I've been around anyone and a hummingbird shows up...EVERYONE starts pointing and saying "ooh...look at the Hummingbird!" They might as well have just stuck the camera on a mini helicopter. Would've attracted just as much attention...plus it'd be easier to make.
