Satin has been out of work for a year, and today we had our first ride together. Before this was filmed I spent an hour with him on the ground in the arena, lunging him and driving him on long reins. I have been warned that he is a horse that needs to be in full work to behave, and can be known to buck and pigroot, so I was certain he was in the right frame of mind before I decided to get on him. He was a bit tense at the start, but did settle down a lot towards the end of the ride. He is very responsive, and I am very impressed with how he uses his body. I had very minimal contact on his reins and I loved how he chose to hold his head. Satin is a show jumper, however I think he may be a great dressage horse too! And Satin will be for sale once I am happy with how he is going, from what we've done so far I think he's a fantastic horse.

Oh, P.S. He is a brother to Corajay

  • What are your plans for him? Are you training him up for yourself or do you plan to sell him on? Just curious, not judging or anything haha (hard to convey tone over internet =P)

  • @Emaree13 I am selling him for a friend :)

  • Just wondering, when he bucked a little there around the end, did it startle you, or did it scare you for a moment?

  • @KinsysStuff

No not at all, he was actually just sorting out his canter leads there. He does a little kick as he changes his hind legs over

  • Verrrrrrry well riden Tegan! Ignore my comment asking if you were goin to put up his 1st ride on the groundwork explained, didn't notice you had put this up!

That's so cool that he's Corajay's brother! He is very nice, I love the loose rein! I noticed that he threatened to buck and pigroot but never did... if he were to buck would you push him through it or disengage his hindquarters and start over? Thanks!

  • @HorsesHoldMyHeart

He gets all antsy at 2:53 because he picked up the wrong lead, you can't see his legs but he did a flying change after that. It depends on what he was trying to do with the buck, if he were just to pigroot then I'd ride him through it. He we were to throw in a couple good bucks to try and get me off, then I would definitely disengage his hind quarters and start over :)

  • How do you get tbs to carry their heads low !?and how do you get their canter so nice? :)

  • aw. gorgeous! i was wondering if you had any idea how much you might be planning to sell satin for? when you're done with him of course. :)

  • how long have you been riding for? Because you are great ;)

  • At my old horse farm, they used to have a foal that looked like the horse in this video, and her name was Satin too! lol

  • When you ride do you talk to your horse a lot?

  • Wow rocking horse canter much!

  • Very well ridden , the only thing that u noticed ( no crit at all i just trying to help) You tend to loosen your hands of the reins , and you are suppose to make sure they are sealed shut just in case the horse stretches out the reins and takes off. But that is the only thing i noticed , love the vid :) Hoping to watch more of him :)

  • @hotty496 Cause satin is beautiful. :o
