Yes, many of these animals are our best friends, heroes, teachers, confidants, and companions, but they are also very costly to care for and to euthanize and dispose of when the time comes. Given the alternative is to see a lame/sick horse loaded on an overcrowded truck to Mexico to get slaughtered anyway, or have it be neglected and starved in someone's pasture because there isn't enough funding to rescue/care for it, makes the US slaughterhouses a merciful option. OK, U can bash me now. :)

For all of you that are saying that this is "better" for the horses that are being mistreated, you are wrong. Those horses deserve another chance. It's not their fault their owner wasn't ready for them. Why are we blaming them for our mistakes?

Do some research on abused, neglected and starved horses. Better to get a bullet or be tied to a tree for 4 months being eaten alive by preditors! which is "humane" then??

this very sad for the horses as I am against this they should ban it all together period ,no horse deserves to be inhumanly slaughtered for meat,goes to show you how greedy people really are stop this pleaze and save the horses from inhumane slaughtering !!! ty
