THIS IS A VERY NICE HONEST EXAMPLE OF AN AUSTRIAN MILITARY 4WD.. IT HAS THE DUEL VENTURI ZENITH NDIX 32 . THIS IS THE SAME INTAKE AND CARB THAT WAS USED ON THE TR PUCH RALLY CARS. THIS ENGINE PACKAGE WITH THE NUMBER 5 CAMSHAFT PUTS OUT 27 HP..@4500 RPM...THIS LATE MODEL ENGINE OFTEN GETS UPGRADED TO 50 HP WITH EASE . THE TRANSMISSION FEELS LIKE A CLOSE RATIO GOING THRU THE 4 GEARS . ITS LIGHT ENOUGH THAT ITS A RARE DAY IN HELL TO GET IT STUCK. THIS HAFLINGER COMES WITH THE AXES AND SHOVELS AS ISSUED NEW TO THE MILITARY. THEY ARE USED ALL OVER AUSTRIA, GERMANY ,SWITZERLAND,ITALY ,SWEDEN , AND ENGLAND AND SCOTLAND. ALMOST ALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENTS IN AUSTRIA HAVE THEM.THEY ARE FANTASTIC IN THE WOODS BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT SO WIDE AS THE BIGGER PINZGAUERS. I LOT OF COLD WEATHER NUTS USE THE GAS HEATERS BECAUSE THEY REALLY PUT OUT SOME HEAT...WITH THE BIGGER FIAT LIGHT ALLOY WHEELS THAT ARE 13 INCH ON 4 BY 98MM THEY CAN HIT THE 50 MPH BRACKET WITH EASE. THE HAFLINGERS HAVE GOVERNERS ON THEM SO THE MILITARY COULD NOT TEAR THEM UP .. WHEN IN RACE CARS THEY WILL TURN 8600 RPM ON WELL PERPARED CARS. I HAVE BIG BORE ENGINES WITH THE NUMBER 5 CAM FOR TONS OF TORQUE UP TO 6000 RPM. THIS EXAMPLE IS 15 K THE OTHER ONE WITH THE NEW ENGINE IS 12K AND IT DOES NOT SPORT THE DOORS AND HAS SEEN MORE ABUSE OVER THE YEARS..I ALSO HAVE A LATE MODEL LONG WHEELBASE 5 SPEED DRIVE TRAIN WITH NO ENGINE IM PARTING OUT . IT HAS THE CREEPER GRANNY GEAR IN FIRST. LEO
Hey, I have been working on a haflinger. First Question is using gl5 80-90 gear oil for all the gear oil needs in the haflinger okay (especially for the transmission?)? 2nd: My haflinger has one intake valve that leaks and sends air back through the carburetor. Is there a common thing that happens to the valves? maybe out of adjustment, bent, or sticky? Look forward to hearing from you, Jefo
