The next interesting first flight to occur at Omaka is likely to be the Sopwith Pup of the Chariots of Fire Fighter Collection. Recent engine runs have shown the original 80hp Le Rhone rotary to be running beautifully and the aircraft is just now awaiting CAA inspection before the first test flight takes place. This replica is quite historic in its own right, having been built in 1961 by Joe Pfeiffer in California. One of the earliest pioneers of WW-I aircraft replica building, Joe was also responsible for two Nieuport 11s, one of which has appeared at the last two Classic Fighters air shows courtesy of the TVAL collection. The pup's scheduled to make its public flying debut at next year's Classic Fighters airshow. What better way to celebrate its 50th birthday!
