Like most Americans, Alison Weir, the editor of a small-town newspaper in California, knew very little about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, other than what she had gleaned from the evening news or newspaper headlines. As a journalist, her attention was on issues much closer to home. Neither a muslim nor a jew, she nevertheless became more curious about the topic of the Palestinian uprising. And as she researched it, she became increasingly suspicious that the American media were not telling us the whole story. Months later, she traveled to the occupied territories as an independent journalist to find out for herself what the U.S. media seemed to be omitting. Three months after returning from Palestine, Alison Weir quit her job and founded If Americans Knew, an organization dedicated to quantifying the ways in which the American media was misinforming the public about the conflict. Really interesting statistical analysis. All newspapers tend to lean one way or the other, but to see the degree to which even widely respected newspapers skew the reporting is astounding. I'm studying journalism and I chose to also study the Middle East for all the reasons Weir talks about in the video. Americans (whether you feel they are good/bad/lazy etc) cannot make an informed decision about issues if they are literally being reported backwards. I wonder if Al-Jazeera's reporting differs?

Has anyone noticed that the majority of children, as stated in the video, have been shot in the head? Clearly, it's not a cause of death by crossfire or the result of close proximity to a blast.

I don't think you have to consider Israel an "evil" nation to believe there is a very deceptive, effective campaign to hijack the American national interest to pursue a foreign policy for the benefit of Israel.
