Once upon A time we;(USA)built our consumer electronics here and payed A decent wage. I have some of those "Living Stereo" lp's with the "Miracle Surface"(no static pops) they still sound great 50+years on.

@RetroToledo hahaha... like my grandmas generation. I know that kind of lingo on-accoun-a I used to watch Leave it to Beaver on TV land.

@TwinMillMC Sounds a lot like my mom's generation right there!

@Marantzguy My mom would eventually buy herself a Wollensak in the 60's since she made recordings of her live performances in clubs.

Gotta love the man voice of the 50's from smoggin those cigarettes
-
Geesh you wonder why all these consoles have dirty grill cloth all them darn cigarette
-
if you meen the distorted sound quality that was becoase of the optical sound system used for film sound back then i think.
-
Gee, I wonder if I should buy a monaural hi-fi or a new stereophonic hi-fi. Say, I think stereophonic hi fidelity is just a passing fad, so why waste the money? After all, it doesn't grow on trees.

Why do men from this era sound like they smoked. Carton of camels when they talk

oh dear god i have this on dvd!!!!
RCA had already released reel-to-reel stereo tapes as early as 1955; this film was released around December 1957, just as RCA Victor was about to introduce their "Living Stereo" LP albums (among the first that were released in standard "New Orthophonic High Fidelity" in late '57, and "Living Stereo" in '58, was Arthur Fiedler's Boston Pops Orchestra's "Red Seal" recording of "Grand Canyon Suite"...and on the popular side, Frankie Carle's "Around the World").

@fromthesidelines I have the Frankie Carle Album Around the World, and also the Grand Canyon Suite, which is on the RCA Red Seal, and it may very well be the 1958 Arthur Fiedler, but I am not sure. I will have to search for that record.

I love this! It's quite sad really that the enthusiast smoked his pipe near all his precious LPs and electronics! Those old consoles are just so classy looking. Neat to see all of RCA's featured equipment! I have quite a few of their records from this period. The tapes are quite hard to find, though. Tell me, did you edit the film? The part where he plays the tape has gone missing. What was on the tape?

@VinylLad Hi Yes I did edit the film where he says to turn off the projector, it was silent, and so was the scene of the Grand Canyon, and I shortened the Grand Canyon scene to get in the 15 minute limit. The flim was made silent at both of those scenes so where the film was being shown they could have a live demonsttration of a hi-fi stereo playing for the audience, as it would be impossible to demonstrate the stereo sound using the 16MM optical sound track .
