@hamori83 Thank you - they sound very good, it's always great to hear young people playing to a high standard as they will be the professionals of the future! Next time I am in Budapest I would like to attend a concert at the wonderful Bartok Hall, it was closed last time I was there as it was August.

I went to hear Szell do this in Cleveland years ago and it was magnificent - however Hamori - your version here is transcendent! Thanks for posting!

@abelteo but still clear though!

Never heard of the Zuglo Philharmonic - I know there is a district in Budapest called Zuglo Is it a local orchestra?

@TheVaughan5 Yes, it is a semi-professional, juvenile orchestra of the Saint Stephan Music School in Zugló, Budapest. Half of the members are still students, the others are former students of the school.

I'm gonna steal a term from McDonald's: I'm lovin it!! The sunrise opening with the three fluttering flutes and deep basses is one of the miracles of all classical music. So how do we say bravo in Hungarian?! (by the way, the chorus really is a must in all performances of this piece--they add the extra otherwordly dimension Ravel wanted)

@windstorm1000 Thank you for the compliment, and about this opening: it's really a unique marvel, but last week I've conducted a pretty obscure (but most wonderful) piece from Liszt, 2 scenes from Lenau's Faust, where I've found the "grandfather" of this beginning (starting at 1.45'')
P.s.: in hungarian we say "bravo" for bravo :)
