@kayjo101 I think that was a flower that seemed to have some kind of magical power when Gretel touched it the rope that was binding Hansel slinked off him and wrapped around the witch. And when it was used to tie the cage shut she touched it again and it untied itself. I'm looking back to recall when it got that power.

they did this opera at Rice University years ago and I was one of the gingerbread kids :)
