360 Elite red ring of death to A Perfect Circle 's "Blue"

Elite bought on 5/26/07 with RROD on 3/18/08. This 360 had a 14" fan blowing over it every single time it was turned on until the time it was turned off. It was operated in a room with avg. temp of about 75 degrees F. I would leave the 360 on between 3 - 8 hours a day. (a lot of dashboard idol time)BTW, mine NEVER overheated no matter how long I played a game or left it on. (COD4, Forza 2, Halo 3 mostly)

When I first got this 360 I was aware of the RROD so I ran the fan over it constantly and also wouldn't turn the machine off until I played my last game for the day. I thought this would help deter the RROD by having less warping from heating up, cooling down. (It appears I was wrong)

I have a friend that bought one of the first 360's and his still works. But he does not use it everyday and when he does, it's only between 20mins - 3 hours.

The next one will probably still get the fan treatment but I will be turning it off and on a lot more. If I could just remove it from it's case for extra cooling without losing the warranty I probably wouldn't have this problem!!! Damn heater!

I added all this hoping it might help someone out. I see "rrod!!!" all the time but without explanation. Here's one that couldn't have been better taken care of and still crapped out.

You cannot "fix" a RROD. I do feel that removing the case and other unneeded material would prevent it but that is assuming heat IS the problem. And to test that I would void my warranty. I guess I still have 2 years of warranty to comfort me for now.

In the next week I will be a new PS3 owner, the Metal Gear Solid 4 Gunmetal bundle - oh man I can't wait...

SH*& I forgot to mention I got a working elite back a WHILE ago. (a little over a month after sending it in) Has a quieter dvd drive and has been fine since. Seems to have an issue with GTA online though but that seems to be everyone.

MGS4/online is looking SICK.

14 days and I still have not received the return box yet because M$ sent the first to the wrong address, that MGS PS3 is looking beautiful.

I may end up getting a PS3 one day but it won't be to take the 360s place, IMO I cannot see that happening. For me, I just have to justify what I'm paying for and I can't justify $500 to play Metal Gear.(although it's tempting lol) And yes, I realize PS3 has and will have other great games but for me they're not great enough, there have been so many outstanding 360 titles that I wouldn't have time for it.

btw,I do own a Wii haha. But, like every other 360 owner I know, it doesn't get much play.

ya if people have a problem with 360 then buy ps3, but not a wii, wii is just fucking gay :P. i have 360 and im lucky to not have the rrod, so if your complaining then buy a ps3.
